The Army Training and Evaluation Program (ARTEP)

The Army Training and Evaluation Program (ARTEP) Mission Training Plans (MTPs) can assist with METL development and assessment.  According to FM 25-101, Battle Focused Training, pg 2-3, "the MTP is a good start point for selecting collective tasks to support the mission."  The MTP's Training and Evaluation Outlines (T&EOs) are used to evaluate training that supports the unit's METL.  FM 25-101, pg 5-7, also states that a unit can support its METL assessment by using the, "Evaluation results...recorded on the T&EOs from the applicable MTP."  Use of MTPs are required by AR 220-1, Unit Status Report.  Paragraph 7.2b. asserts, "Commanders at all levels will determine their units' ability to execute the METL by suning the Army standards fround in the applicable mission training plans (MTPs)." AR 220-1, para 7.2c, further stresses that commanders use the MTPs and Combined Arms Training Strategies (CATS), if available, as training development and assessment tools.

The AMEDD Center and School ARTEP Branch currently maintains 39 MTPs, 2 drills, and 3 CATS on the Reimer Digial Library (RDL) at http://atiam.train.army.mil/soldierPortal/appmanager/soldier/start?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=rdlservicespage The RDL holds the most up-to-date training products and allows easy access, via the Internet, for all unites.  The ARTEP staff relies on user comments to improve the end products.  Draft training products can be found at http://www.cs.amedd.army.mil/dts/ARTEP/Artep.htm.
